Fantastic news out of Sweden: the first Gay Jewish couple there got married! Woo-hoo! Celebrate good times, c’mon!

We’re excited to see Gay weddings grow in acceptance, one shul at a time. And Sweden, of all places!

Sweden’s Jewish history is actually a bit fascinating. Did you know that most of the major newspapers in Sweden were founded by Jews? And Jews are disproportionately their editors today?

So Sweden, as a very progressive Nordic culture, combined with a non-trivial Jewish presence — it makes sense that same-sex Jewish weddings are starting to grow there!

If you want to read more about the gay Jewish weddings in Sweden, then read about in this article on the Jerusalem Post!

What disappointed me about this article is, they didn’t reveal the names of the grooms (or perhaps brides?). I would think that we would be proud of it and would want to use our names. This isn’t the time for us to be in the closet.

By the way, this makes me think: maybe we should start doing gay Jewish wedding announcements? :)
